We can help you develop pyrolysis projects from concept to production
Expert consulting and hands-on assistance to guide your pyrolysis project through every phase - ensuring regulatory compliance, funding success, and operational excellence.
Experts in pyrolysis project development
At Onnu, we have the experience of planning, financing, building and running our own pyrolysis projects, and divisions selling biochar and managing carbon credits.
So we know what it takes to make your project a success.
Consulting we offer
Depending on the progress you've made, we can offer consultation services for your pyrolysis project as per your needs.
Financing
Option Evaluation
We are well connected with funders looking to support environmentally positive projects and can evaluate and model funding options on your behalf.
Carbon financing
The carbon credits that pyrolysis plants produce are in high demand, and funding can be accessed by committing the credits in advance to a buyer at an agreed price.
Asset financing
The core components of the plant can be funded by asset financing. We can help evaluate your chances of securing it, and produce the projections required to apply.
Planning
Feasibility and Validation
A light-touch engagement to square off some key requirements, and develop reliable, realistic projections and business case.
Feedstock trials
Real-world pyrolysis of your feedstock mix to provide verified outcomes and inform any process stages and plant design.
Technology & Engineering
All aspects of feedstock preparation, drying, pyrolysis and energy integration ensuring the right tech choices for your plant.
Implementation
Planning and compliance
Identification and support in applying to all regulatory authorities, such as planning applications and permitting.
Installation
The delivery, construction, installation and commissioning of your plant, ensuring all aspects are working to specification before handing it over.
Operations and Training
Development of a detailed operation model including required skills and scheduling, and the certification and training of responsible staff.
Operations
Carbon services
We can ensure maximum return for carbon credits by implementation of the correct methodology, project registration and sales and marketing of the credits.
Biochar
We can find potential applications for the biochar based on its properties, and if suitable, register it with the EBC. We can also offtake your biochar if you don't want to use or sell it yourself.
Support and maintenance
Remote and onsite support, plus planned maintenance work all delivered by expert engineers experienced in the technology.
Business model
A pyrolysis plant can be both hugely environmentally positive, and profitable.
Inputs
Waste Biomass
Feedstock can come from any organic source, including green waste, poultry litter, sewage or agricultural residues.
Pyrolysis
Our Plant
Feedstock is thermally decomposed into biochar and syngas, which is combusted for energy to maintain the process and power any required drying process.
Outputs
Heat & Electricity
Excess energy can be available, delivered as hot air, water or steam, and co-generation of electricity.
Biochar
Biochar is most often used as a soil additive. This can be sold on the open market, or used locally.
Carbon Credits
Carbon Removal Credits can be sold for income, or retired to reduce your own emissions.
Our Projects
At Onnu, we are at the forefront of commercialising pyrolysis. Each of our projects are focused on performance, effective operations, low maintenance and commercial viability.
Take a look at some of our projects to see for yourself!
Green Hubs
Onnu’s Green Hubs will transform poultry litter into biochar, while removing carbon from the atmosphere and preventing river pollution.
Local intensive poultry farming has been damaging the river Wye’s ecology run-offs causing massive algae blooms. Onnu’s Green Hubs will pyrolyse poultry litter while encompassing the highest standards of biosecurity to produce about 2,500 tonnes of biochar and sequester 5,680 tCO2e of carbon annually. The green electricity generated from the plant will be utilized to power data centres running gen-AI tasks.
Malaysia
Pyrolysis of waste biomass to produce biochar, carbon credits and green energy for day-to-day agricultural operations.
Through a local partnership Onnu will setup a dual C1000 pyrolysis plant to upcycle waste generated by local agriculture and produce about 1,355 tonnes of biochar and sequester 2,400 tCO2e of carbon annually. The biochar will be used to help decarbonise concrete manufacturing in South East Asia.
