The C1000

Developed by our engineering partner Woodtek, the C1000 is a robust, affordable and proven pyrolysis unit ideal for industrial and agricultural settings, supporting profitable business models while delivering key environmental outcomes. Here’s how it works.

Why the C1000?

Multi feedstock capacity

A successful project depends on access to suitable feedstocks locally. The C1000 provides a number of options and has been shown to deliver great results with arboreal waste, compost oversize, waste wood, poultry litter and AD digestate.

Small size and modular.

Small size and modular design

The unique upright design makes great use of space and reduces the overall footprint of the plant making it easier to deploy in more locations.

And with the C1000 at its heart, your plant can also come with dryers, scrubbers, heat exchangers and more, all proven to work in unison.

Process integrated automation

Once feedstock enters the process, its journey towards becoming biochar is completely automated. And all processes and throughput is logged and accessible online, so you always have a view of performance

Proprietary integrated dryer.

Proprietary integrated dryer

Feedstocks are rarely available in suitably dry conditions. Drying them is to crucial to bring their moisture content to levels suitable for pyrolysis. Our proprietary integrated dryer saves you the hassle of finding the right dryer with the optimal capacity and efficiency.

Generate green energy

The process of pyrolysis is not only self-sustaining but can also support a feedstock’s drying stage with still excess energy left over. This can be utilised as heat or to generate green electricity, depending on your requirements.

Biochar carbon credits.

High quality biochar and carbon credits

The C1000 is built to make high-quality biochar and maximise carbon sequestration. And through automation and monitoring, all relevant data is collected to ensure the fast and accurate issuance of carbon credits.

Sweden project Onnu.

Sweden

Single C1000 plant replacing biomass boiler of a district heating network in central Sweden to pyrolyse forestry waste.

The new system now not only continues to deliver the heat required by the community, but also securely removes carbon which was previously returning to the atmosphere. And where there was ash to dispose of, there is now biochar, which is a well-established market in Sweden and can be easily sold to forestry and municipalities seeking to improve soil health and tree growth rates.

Bioccus

UK Government-funded single C1000 plant pyrolysing sustainably sourced forestry waste.

This project, run by Ricardo, secured funding from the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP) under the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). It takes sustainably sourced forestry waste and through pyrolysis it generates biochar and green energy, which in turn is used to manufacture food grade CO2 from the flue gases.
